Honestly, it depends on how you look at it.

A lot of younger Muslim entrepreneurs also saw an opportunity. One viral TikTok video can suddenly have people lining up outside for spicy sliders and fries.
But with that growth came a different problem.
Many of these restaurants don’t really bring anything new to the table. After a while, customers start realizing they’ve seen the same menu before. People care about quality ingredients, authentic certification, good service, clean dining spaces, and unique flavors. Customers are becoming more selective, and honestly, that’s probably a good thing for the industry overall.
The restaurants that seem to survive the longest are usually the ones that actually build a connection with their community. Sometimes it’s a family recipe, sometimes it’s exceptional customer service, and sometimes it’s simply consistency. People remember the places that feel genuine.
You can also feel halal food culture starting to expand beyond fried chicken. More people are looking for halal Korean food, halal barbecue, specialty coffee shops, healthier meal options, and authentic traditional cuisines that aren’t always represented in mainstream food scenes. The halal market is maturing, and customers want variety.
So are there too many halal fried chicken spots?
Maybe in some areas, yes. But the bigger issue probably isn’t the number of restaurants — it’s how many of them are trying to copy the same idea without adding their own identity to it.
There will always be room for halal restaurants that care about quality, originality, and community. Trends come and go, but the places people truly love usually offer something more than just another spicy chicken sandwich.
